Tzitzit Wearing

Greetings to you all this 23rd Day of the #CountingoftheOmer and the 12th Day of the 2nd Biblical Month on the Creator’s Sacred Calendar. Today’s #Torah reading marked the commandment by the Almighty to His people to wear #Tzitzits on each corner of their garments. #Tzitziyot are fringes of intertwined threads with a single blue thread in the midst of the other white threads. The Almighty commanded that we wear these fringes at each of the 4-corners of our garments so that “you look at and thereby remember all of Adonai’s mitzvot and obey them, so that you won’t go around wherever your own heart and eyes lead you to prostitute yourselves; but it will help you remember and obey all my mitzvot and be holy for your God.” (Num. 15:37-41 CJB)

I began wearing this unique appendage to my daily clothing after seeing fellow believers where them for quite some time. I guess I elected to follow suite because to me, I wanted to ensure that I took with my on my day-to-day journey through life, a two-fold remember and symbol of my enduring relationship with the Almighty. It reminds me of my commitment to #Messiah and my commitment to obey His #Torah. Also, as a symbol that is clearly visible to the world, it clearly tells the people round about me that I am not ashamed of the Gospel of #Yeshua #HaMashiach and that my commitment to my #Faith is deeper than mere head knowledge and occasional verbal confirmation. I dare not violate #Torah or act unbecoming of my calling and choosing as I wear this amazing symbol of commitment to my #Master.

Is wearing #Tzitziyot for every believer? I would like to think so. It is a #commandment given in our #Torah. However, I also believe it must be a personal decision that every believer must make for themselves. There can not be a forced compliance here as it does require one to be willing to stand before all those before him/her to see a symbol of one’s commitment. Those of us who are married wear each day of our lives a symbol of our commitment to stay true to our spouses–the wedding band or ring. Not everyone is willing to wear one. I’m certain the reasons why one would not wear one are varied. Those of us who do wear wedding bands are saying through our display that we are not ashamed nor are we slack in our commitment to our spouses. It too is a reminder of our commitment to our spouses and to the world, and it should keep us on the straight and narrow in terms of our being faithful to our spouses. The #Tzitziyot is the exact same principle. Although I was initial self-conscious wearing it when I began wearing it so many months ago, I am now very conscious of it not being on me when I don’t have it on (i.e., I forget to put it on my person). I love this symbol and embrace it with love and joy. I tug on these fringes throughout the day and it certainly causes me to wonder how my walk is doing. Some may argue that we no longer need such trappings as we’ve been given the Holy Spirit. That would be the only argument for not wearing Tzitziyot that I would give some credence to. However, #RuachHaKodesh gives us power internally to live the lives that #Messiah demands we live. The Tzitziyot gives us the visual identity and tactile evidence of our commitment. May you be most blessed fellow Saints in Training.

Episode 20-Hesitancy to claim the land-(Num. 13:21-14:25)

After the spies returned from their reconnoiter of Canaan, their  report was positive for the greatness of the land but ominous in regards to the perceived threat the people of the land posed. The positive aspect of their report certainly provided Yah’ s promise that the land of their inheritance was filled with milk and honey and that thrilled the children of Israel. The second half of their report however had a most damaging affect upon the majority; the very “woe is me” mentality and demeanour that we saw, that was characteristic of the people in previous chapters, resurfaced, casting a pall upon what should have been the chosen ones’ ultimate realization of their purpose. It quickly became clear that fear of the inhabitants of the land of Canaan far overshadowed the desire to possess the land of promise and end their months of travel and hardship. Indeed, for any other nation, the prospects of taking the land from such formidable inhabitants would be a virtual impossibility. Yet, the Children of Israel weren’t just any other nation. They were the people of the promise and despite their stiff-neck nature and obstinate behavior throughout the course of the nation’s journey from Egypt to just south of Canaan, Israel’s conquest of the land was an absolute certainty. Despite the undeniable knowledge that the Creator of the Universe was exclusively on their side and that no harm would come to the nation no matter what befell them in their efforts to seize the land, the people refused to move forward with the instructions of the Father. Despite the strong urgings of Caleb and Joshua, the people gave in to their flesh and rebelled. The people’s rebellion was such that they even threatened the lives of Aaron, Caleb, Joshua, and most of all, Moshe.

Yehovah’ s anger was kindled against the people as a result of their obstinate behavior and utter contempt towards Father. Yet Moshe’ s intercession on behalf of the people saved a nation from extinction. For me, I am utterly awed by the person of Moshe. Few men in history have possessed and exercised the patience, courage, and compassion that Moshe displayed to Yehovah on behalf of the people. These are the very people who sought to snuff out their leader and replace him with another so that they could return to Egypt and resume their lives of bondage. Yet Moshe prostrated Himself before Yehovah and pleaded for the salvation of the people. Indeed, one other man facing death bid a similar plea on behalf of His tormentors and murderers–Yeshua HaMashiach. Furthermore, we see clearly that Moshe possessed a relationship with the Father that was unique and unparalleled in the history of mankind up to this point. Moshe could speak to Yehovah face-to-face and Yehovah listened. Moshe reminded Yehovah what He said in the past, appealing to Father’s slowness to anger; His loving-kindness; the Father’s forgiveness; and His holy justice (Num. 14:17-20). Any other man living would have immediately been terminated. Yet Yehovah relented to Moshe’s petition. Moshe was indeed a true friend of the Father. Moshe knew how deeply hurt the Father had become over the repeated challenges of the people toward Him and their failure to “hearken to My voice…” (Num. 14:22)

Churchianity has taken away this attribute from their understanding of Father–that is the Father’s feelings. When we screw up; when we challenge; when we sin; when we act like fools before the Father under the false pretense that we’re protected under grace, we emotionally damage the Father. His heart is often broken over our stupidity and hardened nature, especially when He has put Himself out for us and we agreed to obey Him. We are so quick to kick Father to the curb to make our lives seemingly easier.
Additionally, how many of us from time to time are given opportunities that will bring us to the fulcrum of our existence? Yehovah promises us blessings and an inheritance. We are taken through the fire of our personal wildernesses where we are prepared to receive the blessings and inheritance. When it is time to take possession, we lose courage and reject that which Father has offered. This is what the chosen nation experienced.
These people (1) were disobedient, (2) lacked faith, (3) were not in alignment with Father despite the many months of wandering in the wilderness and witnessing the awesome wonders of Yehovah.
At this point in the process, not going in to possess the land of promise was NOT an option. The one chance the children of promise had to back out of the agreement was at the base of the Holy Mountain:
Moshe went up to God, and ADONAI called to him from the mountain: “Here is what you are to say to the household of Ya’akov, to tell the people of Isra’el: (Exo 19:3 CJB)  ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. (Exo 19:4 CJB) Now if you will pay careful attention to what I say and keep my covenant, then you will be my own treasure from among all the peoples, for all the earth is mine; (Exo 19:5 CJB)  and you will be a kingdom of cohanim for me, a nation set apart.’ These are the words you are to speak to the people of Isra’el.” (Exo 19:6 CJB) Moshe came, summoned the leaders of the people and presented them with all these words which ADONAI had ordered him to say. (Exo 19:7 CJB) All the people answered as one, “Everything ADONAI has said, we will do.” (Exo 19: 8 CJB)
The Israeli Spies

As it is with us, true Believers in Messiah, we are not privileged to say NO to Father. We knew when we accepted discipleship and was told of the expectations for us by Father, we chose to accept His gift and become His disciple. We weren’t coerced nor were we tricked into such an arrangement. We signed the dotted line of the contract which the possessor of the inheritance purchased with the blood of His son. We have been purchased with a price (Or don’t you know that your body is a temple for the Ruach HaKodesh who lives inside you, whom you received from God? The fact is, you don’t belong to yourselves; (1Co 6:19 CJB) for ye have been bought with a price: glorify now then God in your body. (1Co 6:20 DBY) You were bought at a price, so do not become slaves of other human beings. (1Co 7:23 CJB)

Millions of believers are under the illusion that nothing is required of them in this contract to eternity. Yet, we are required to be obedient to His laws, statutes, and commandments. In addition, we are required to participate in the Great Commission–no matter how big or small it may turn out to be, we must be about the Father’s business. Failure to do any of this will only disappoint the Father. As happened to Israel who rejected possessing the promised land, those of us who fail to do that which the Father has set before us to do can have dire repercussions; maybe even eternal repercussions. This example must not be taken lightly by us. Hesitancy to claim the land when directed to do so by Father must be acted upon swiftly and acted upon with faith, boldness, joy, and with total reliance upon the strong arm of Yehovah. May you seize the land in your life accordingly and may we use this prophetic shadow picture to our greatest spiritual advantage.

God’s Promises Have a Shelf-Life

Indeed. The passage Num. 14:26-15:7 details how the Lord’s disappointment and anger towards Israel was kindled after she rejected the promised land upon hearing the report from the spies. Father’s promise of providing the chosen nation with a land flowing with milk and honey was abruptly taken off the table. This promise, however, would be given to the rejectors’ children. The rejectors would wander in the wilderness for 40-years: one year for each day the spies scouted out the land. These wandering souls would ultimately die in the wilderness, never realizing their promised inheritance.

Upon hearing the Father’s disposition, some of the people became remorseful and attempted to conquer the land. However, it was too late. The shelf-life of Yah’s promise had expired. As Shaul taught the Corinthians (ref. 2 Cor. 6:2) And in a day of salvation did I succor thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation): (2Co 6:2 ASV). This story paints an amazing prophetic shadow picture that millions of well meaning but sorely well misled christians are missing. Only those who obey Father and who seize the opportunity given to them will receive the promised land. In our case, that promised land is the Kingdom of Yehovah. So many are misled to thinking that they are under grace and that Yah will graciously provide the promise without any action on our part. However, Yah requires obedience and a willing heart to act when He says act. The people loss their opportunity to seize the land. Now is our opportunity to seize the kingdom. The kingdom is ours to lose. Millions are in the process right now of losing their inheritance because of a perverted grace doctrine. We know better. We must continue on in the Faith and not make the mistake of our cousins in churchianity. We’ve been given the blessing and inheritance that was meant for the children of promise. Let us not squander that promise, but with boldness, conquer the land. May you be most blessed today saint in training. Shalom.

Episode 18-The Value of Wise Counsel

And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel. 30 And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred. 31 And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.  32 And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee. (Num 10:29-32 KJV)

  • Hobab by some commentators is Jethro, the father in law to Moshe. However, the more likely identity of Hobab is that of a brother in law to Moshe
  • Moshe came to value the knowledge and counsel that Hobab brought to him and Israel
  • Often we fail to see the resources that Father places before us
  • Often we cut off our noises to spite our faces
  • Our godly spouses, siblings, parents, and friends are excellent sources of knowledge and sound counsel
  • Additionally, those whom Father has put into our lives–friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc, though they may not be believers, may be tremendous sources of knowledge and counsel that we would be remiss to overlook
  • Counsel is vital to the Believer of Messiah–Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. (Pro 11:14 DBY) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel. (Pro 12:15 DBY) Without counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. (Pro 15:22 DBY) Plans are established by counsel; and with good advice make war. (Pro 20:18 DBY)
  • Moshe recognized that Hobab’s invaluable strengths rested upon his knowledge, experiences, and understanding of the wilderness. As a Midianite, Hobab was raised and lived in the wilderness. Moshe was raised and experienced in the ways of warfare, organization, leadership. He obviously realized his lack of knowledge and understanding in this areas of Hobab’s strengths and thus Moshe pleaded with Hobab to dwell with Israel. In exchange, Hobab would reap the tremendous benefits to be had by Israel as promised by Yehovah
  • As believers in Yehovah, we tend to place little trust and hope in the people around us. Indeed, the Bible counsels us to trust Yehovah over man–It is better to trust in Jehovah than to put confidence in man; (Psa 118:8 DBY) However, Yehovah is faithful to provide for our needs–But my God shall abundantly supply all your need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phi 4:19 DBY) Yet we must be wise in the ways of Yehovah and not overlook opportunities and assistance–Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (Mat 10:16 KJV)
  • Sometimes, the most unlikely persons in our lives–especially unbelievers–may be just the solution to our problem and or the key to our every day success

The take away from this dear friend is to keep your eyes and ears open for opportunity to receive the council and guidance and assistance you may require in every aspect of your life. Do not under-estimate the value that a believer or non-believer could bring to your business, school work if you’re a student, career, home life, or your spirit life. Yehovah provides us with common sense and a spirit of discernment. If we are to live the abundant life, we must be always in search and always open to opportunities to enhance our endeavors in every area of our lives.

Episode 17-Praise Yehovah No Matter What–Even in the Midst of Life’s Frustrations and Disappointment

Praise Him-Psm. 34:1; Heb. 13:15-…let us offer the sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, the fruit of our lips confessing His name

i. Sacrifice of praise=thusia ainesis -as an action praise, a speaking of how excellent Yah is; a thank offering to Yehovah for some benefit received

ii. Providing acceptable service & Faith as an offering to Yehovah

iii. Sacrifices =offerings were offered to atone for sin

iv. vs. 16-do not neglect to do good & share what we have

v. we have no Temple in which to sacrifice or offer thanksgiving as noted in Lev. 7:12-we see here an awesome shadow picture of thanksgiving offerings transitioning to direct praise offerings from our being and out of our mouths

vi. and with the sacrifice offering comes the calling on the name of Yehovah as mentioned by David-Psm. 116:17

vii. Yehovah requires that it be freely presented-Lev. 22:29

G. Consult Yah’ s Word-Yah reveals Himself through His Word

H. Seek to overcome the flesh-Gal. 5:17-the contention that exists between the flesh and Spirit; if flesh prevails, death results while living in the Spirit brings about life-Rom. 8:13
